Scammers are a persistent problem. If we or another member find your profile suspicious, we may ask you to verify you are who you claim.
How We Verify Your Profile
1. We'll ask you to send us a short clear video of yourself verbally stating a few words.
2. Send your video to an admin of our Facebook group (via Facebook messenger). The video is kept private and never shared with anyone else. It will be deleted after verification.
If you refuse, your account on this website will be removed, and you'll be banned from the Facebook group.
How Dating Scams Work
Dating scams typically involve scammers creating fake profiles on dating websites or social media platforms to build romantic relationships with unsuspecting victims. Once a connection is established, the scammer will usually start off by building trust and forming an emotional bond with the victim. They may use flattering language, shower the victim with compliments, and express strong feelings of love and affection.
As the relationship progresses, the scammer will often come up with reasons to ask for money or personal information from the victim. Common tactics used in dating scams include:
Financial emergencies: The scammer may claim to be experiencing a financial crisis or medical emergency and ask the victim for money to help them out.
Travel expenses: The scammer may express a desire to meet in person but claim to lack the funds for travel expenses. They may ask the victim to send money for plane tickets, visas, or other travel costs.
Investment opportunities: Scammers may pitch fake investment opportunities or business ventures to the victim, promising high returns on their money.
Personal information: In some cases, scammers may try to extract personal information such as bank account details, social security numbers, or other sensitive data for identity theft or financial fraud.
It's important to be cautious when interacting with individuals online, especially on dating sites. To protect yourself from dating scams, here are a few tips:
- Be wary of individuals who ask for money or financial assistance, especially if you've never met them in person.
- Do not share personal information or sensitive details with someone you've just met online.
- Use reverse image search tools to verify the authenticity of a person's photos on their dating profile.
- Trust your instincts and be cautious if something seems too good to be true.
- Report suspicious activity or profiles to admin.
